Summer brides, here are tips to rock your D-Day
Summers are here and so are the sultry weather and scorching heat, which actually feel dreadful. But weddings cannot wait isn’t it? But getting married during this time is not as comfy as it may look, even if the wedding is indoors or a night one.
Being decked up in heavy designer Indian wedding dresses with all those jewellery, hair, makeup, it is indeed not a very manageable task. And more over those huge lights, always focusing on the brides, are hot enough to melt the makeup, and have the brides sweating.
But fret not, when we are here, you need not be anxious. Here are some tips for the summer brides to survive the weddings that too being cool and pretty!
Styling tips for the summer brides
Choose a lightweight and minimal lehenga or saree
If you choose to go for designer lehengas, choose one that is on the lighter side, is made of a breathable material, and make you feel cool. Since it is summer, you can ditch reds and oranges and go for peaches, light blues, greens and greys.
If choosing Indian sarees, a light silk saree in vibrant colours can be your go-to option for your D-day. Since you have to stay in those clothes for long hours, yet keep looking fresh and bright, choosing comfortable clothes is something very basic.
Ask your hairdresser to do a tied hairstyle
A very useful decision would be to avoid open hairdos. All of us are already aware how difficult it gets to manage the hair in summers, and with that hair settings and sprays, open or even half open hairdos are a big NO NO.
Ask your hairstylist to do your hair in gorgeous designer buns and accessorise it with jewels, fresh flowers or accessories. Messy braids or accessorised ponytails would be great for pre-wedding events.
Lighter cooler fabrics should be your go-to option
Just like velvets and silks are for the winter weddings with bigger sleeves, chiffon, georgette, chikankari, cotton with short or cut-out sleeves are for the summers. Be it your D-Day outfits or for the rest of the ceremonies, do choose lighter fabrics.
Waterproof, minimal makeup to be applied
Summer brides probably worry the most about bleeding makeup and end up looking sweaty and worn out. And you will end up looking tired in the photos, especially during the latter half of the event.
To avoid that, the first thing is that you should look for minimal, waterproof makeup, and a matte finish one, especially if you have an oily skin type.
Also, except going for heavier makeups, try to go for nude makeup, with softer shades. And do forget to put on that setting spray.
Breezy, summery outfits
For the other ceremonies, pre and post the main ceremony, go for flowy, easy-breezy Indian dresses. A flowery georgette maxi dress, a skirt and crop top, a Salwar kameez, a floor-touching cotton Anarkali dress, all will look equally beautiful.
Indian suits are known for being comfortable and airy. Choose a style you like and get ready to rock the ceremonies.
Light jewellery
Along with light dresses and makeup, the jewellery should be light as well. You can choose the modern-day sleek designs, or can even skip a piece or two, and look relaxed and comfortable. Because that is what matters.
